Initially hired as a content management consultant, I became so convinced of FeeX's mission and potential value to the investing public that I jumped at the chance of coming on fulltime as director of these efforts. And that mission resonates. In fact I was thrilled to see my efforts at getting FeeX into the second annual Benzinga FinTech Awards pay off with FeeX winning Most Disruptive Startup. A total of 250 eligible companies from five countries participated in the awards. Even so, I'm most proud of my role in a cross-team collaborative data analysis project. A small team worked to parse anonymized FeeX data and produce reports that we thought would be of interest to the media --- and it was. Multiple outlets found this data and some of our conclusions interesting enough to produce stories, including CNBC and Forbes. Americans pay $600 billion in fees on their investment assets annually, much of it unnecessary. That largess could allow millions of Americans to retire richer if only it were placed in lower-cost but equally or better performing index funds and ETFs.
