Frequently Asked Questions

What type of work do experts sell?

One of the core reasons we built Valimates is because there is a growing need for expert guidance from verified experts for text-based content. The organizations that engage you will need you to review content, advise, and then (with your permission) cite you as a contributing expert.

Although most jobs will be for text-based content, organizations may need expertise for their other forms of content as well like video, audio, and print.

The type of review work you offer is ultimately up to you and you’ll have complete control from your Expert dashboard.

How are payments to experts processed?

We offer a number of choices for withdrawing your earnings. You can withdraw directly to your bank account with the following payment methods:

  • Direct to a U.S. Bank (ACH) — Free
  • USD Wire Transfer — $30 per transfer
  • USD Check (U.S. only) — Free
We also work with the following third-party payment vendors:
  • PayPal
  • Payoneer

How much does it cost?

It’s free to join Valimates. There is no subscription required or fees to list your expertise.

When the work is completed, we will automatically deduct 15% from the total amount paid by the buyer. This amount does not include any state or local taxes that may be applicable to your work location.

How do I set my rate as an expert?

The amount you charge for your expertise is entirely up to you and you can always adjust your prices as you grow your presence on the Valimates marketplace. Here are some examples:

  • Per word: $1/word
  • Per hour: $150/hour
  • Flat rate: $1,500 total (up to $35,000)

How will refunds be handled?

Valimates is committed to providing timely and quality services to our customers. We understand that sometimes unforeseen circumstances may arise, and it may be challenging to deliver the work by the agreed deadline. In such cases, we offer a refund policy as outlined below:

  1. If you are unable to deliver the completed work by the agreed deadline, the customer may request a refund.
  2. The refund request must be made within 24 hours of the deadline passing, and the customer must provide clear evidence that the work was not delivered as agreed.
  3. The refund amount will be calculated based on the proportion of the work that was not delivered on time. For example, if you delivered 50% of the work on time and 50% of the work was delivered late, the customer will be refunded 50% of the total order amount.
  4. The refund will be processed within 7 business days of the refund request being approved.
We encourage you to communicate with the customer as soon as possible if you anticipate any delays in the delivery of their work. We also advise that you manage your time effectively and prioritize your work to avoid any delays.

Please note that consistently delivering work late can result in negative consequences, including the termination of your account with our company. We expect all our experts to deliver work on time and to maintain a high level of professionalism at all times.

What type of commitment is expected from the expert?

At Valimates, we take pride in providing timely and quality services to our customers. As an expert working with us, we expect you to deliver work within the agreed-upon deadline, ensuring that the quality of work meets the customer’s expectations. Here are some specific commitments we expect from Valimates experts:

  1. Meeting Deadlines: When accepting an order, you are making a commitment to deliver the completed work within the agreed deadline. We expect you to manage your time effectively and prioritize your work to ensure timely delivery of work.
  2. Communication: If you anticipate any delays in delivering the work, we expect you to communicate with the customer as soon as possible. This includes notifying the customer of any unforeseen circumstances that may prevent you from delivering the work on time, such as illness or technical difficulties.
  3. Quality of Work: We expect all experts to deliver work that meets the customer’s expectations and adheres to our quality standards. This includes following the customer’s instructions, addressing any comments or concerns they may have, and ensuring that the work is free from errors and plagiarism.
  4. Professionalism: We expect all our experts to conduct themselves in a professional and ethical manner. This includes treating customers with respect, responding to their queries promptly, and maintaining confidentiality regarding their personal and project details.
  5. Improvement: We expect our experts to continuously improve their skills and knowledge to provide better services to our customers. This includes staying up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in their field of expertise, taking feedback from the customers constructively, and implementing the suggestions to improve their work quality.
We appreciate your commitment to delivering high-quality work on time and maintaining a high level of professionalism at all times. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your commitments as an expert with our company, please do not hesitate to contact our support team.

What happens if the customer needs to change content after the expert has reviewed it and the expert has been publicly cited?

Per our Terms & Conditions, Valimates customers agree to contact the expert seeking permission to use their name and likeness on any structural changes to content before they publicly share or publish the adjusted content. If the expert does not give permission to use their name and likeness, the customer is required to remove the expert citation and/or image from the publication.

How long does it take to get an account approval decision?

Typically, our team will follow up with an account decision within 5 to 10 business days. To help move along the review process, please provide as much relevant information as possible with your initial application.

My application to become an expert was declined, can I appeal the decision?

Yes, you can appeal the decision within 14 days of our initial account decision response. You can access our appeal form here. Also, keep in mind, you can apply again if it has been more than 90 days since your original application.

What does the expert vetting process look like?

As a company that values quality and customer satisfaction, we have a rigorous expert vetting process to ensure that we work with the best professionals in each field. Here is an explanation of how our expert vetting process works:

  1. Application: The first step in our vetting process is for experts to submit an application. This application typically includes basic information about the expert's qualifications, experience, and areas of expertise.
  2. Evaluation: Our team of experts evaluates each application carefully, looking for specific qualifications and experience in the expert's field.
  3. Sample Work: If the application meets our initial criteria, we may request that the expert provide a sample of their work to evaluate the quality of their writing, research, or other skills relevant to their field.
  4. Interview: Once the initial evaluation is complete, we may conduct an interview with the expert to assess their communication skills, professionalism, and work ethic. This interview may be conducted via phone, video call, or email.
  5. Testing: In some cases, we may require experts to complete a testing process to demonstrate their proficiency in their area of expertise. This may include writing samples, practical exercises, or other evaluations.
  6. Background Check: To ensure that we work with professionals of high integrity, we conduct a background check on all experts. This check includes verifying the expert's credentials, work experience, and past work history.
  7. Decision: Once the vetting process is complete, we carefully evaluate all the information and make a decision on whether to approve the expert to work with us. If approved, the expert will be added to our pool of experts, and they can start accepting orders.
Our expert vetting process is designed to ensure that we work with the best professionals in each field. We take pride in our team of experts and are committed to maintaining a high level of quality and customer satisfaction. If you have any questions or concerns regarding our expert vetting process, please do not hesitate to contact our support team.
