Summary
Offering expert advice in pet care, training, nutrition and holistic alternatives. A customer service guru! Background: I have a lifetime of experience with animals. I grew up on a working farm in rural Texas and often rescued stray or injured animals that wandered up to our home. At a young age, I thought I might grow up to be a vet, but instead choose a career in the healthcare industry as a nurse. After 15 years in the medical field, I was ready to get back to my roots. In 2009, I began volunteering and fostering for a local rescue group. During my time with the rescue, I helped to evaluate and place hundreds of dogs into foster and adoptive homes. My own foster dogs were often adopted within just a few weeks of coming into our home! After volunteering over 1,000 hours of time training and rehabilitating dogs in my own time, I decided to follow this path towards a professional career.

Company Overview: We believe that every human can be a hero, and every dog deserves a chance to live a full and happy life! The Journey Project was created in honor of our friend and former foster, Savage (aka Journey). Journey was dumped in a local kill shelter, left to die. We believe he was used for fighting, and unfortunately, he was not able to be rehabilitated. Angered by the senseless tragedy of his death, we decided to do MORE to help dogs in need. We foster and help with training and outreach for several area rescue groups.

We are a non-profit foster home and community outreach group for several rescue groups in Texas.

Dog Trainer
Aug 2013 - Jan 2015

Since 2009, I have fostered, trained, and rehabilitated dogs from all walks of life. I have helped dogs overcome anxiety, fearfulness, leash reactive behavior, and learn to be a part of the family. My rescue and training experience over the years has helped me connect with other dogs owners and guide them through many types of problematic behavior. I pride myself on being honest, patient and down-to-earth – an approach that works wonders for most dogs and owners!

As of 2014, I am teaching basic and advanced obedience classes and offer Nose work and Leash Reactivity seminars through Leaps n' Hounds. I am a volunteer with the Austin Dog Alliance therapy dog program. I also donate my time and training skills by fostering for several rescue groups. I am the founder of an adoption concierge program called The Journey Project.
